For fifteen years I suffered the the excruciating pain and immobility of migraine headaches on a weekly and often daily basis. I followed in my mothers and eldest sisters footsteps whose lives were also inextricably altered by migraine. As an ex nurse, I couldn’t sit back and just allow these things to control my life. As each migraine began, and as I lay in a dark room in agony, my determination was, if not to discover a cure for the headaches, at least to identify the triggers that were setting them off. Doctors were only able to give me a short list of about five trigger foods. This was completely useless to me, as I did not consume some of these foods anyway. |
Over a fifteen year period, I paid careful attention to what I consumed. I was able to identify a list of some fifty+ foods and other substances which triggered my migraines.
My list is alphabetised for easy reading, and contains alternate food names (as far as I know them) to accommodate colloquial language: for instance rockmelon is also called cantaloupe, aubergine is also known as brinjal or egg plant. |
Having experienced these monster headaches first hand, I have the deepest sympathy for others also experiencing them, and their families. My list of Migraine Triggers MAY be yours. I have decided to make my migraine trigger list available at a meagre cost to cover website production and maintenance.
